On September 23, 2024, Assistant Professor Kaewta Nopmaneejumruslers, M.D., Deputy Director of Clinical Services and the Early Childhood Development Center at the National Institute for Child and Family Development, Mahidol University, organized an introductory training course for physicians and professionals under the project Thai Home-based Autism Intervention Model. This collaborative training, a joint effort of all involved, was held from September 23 to 25, 2024, with support from the Mahidol Policy Advocacy Fund and the Beyond the Spectrum project.
The training focused on supporting the establishment of child development clinics that employ a play-based approach and emphasize family participation (Play-based, family-centered child development clinics). It also aimed to train physicians and professionals working with families of special needs and autistic children to transition from a medical model to a family-centred or social model of service provision.
Forty-one physicians and professionals from 14 hospitals across 11 provinces participated in the training.
