Miss Monica Beaunez, a Master's student in Human Development at the National Institute for Child and Family Development, Mahidol University, recently participated in the "ASEAN SDGs Youth Camp: Leveraging Digital Innovation for the SDGs," held from November 4 to 8, 2024. Organized in collaboration with Mahidol University's Global Partnerships Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the ASEAN Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), the event gathered young leaders from various ASEAN countries and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

Throughout the camp, Miss Beaunez joined activities alongside Mahidol University students, youth delegates from ASEAN countries, and representatives from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, fostering an environment of cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.

Miss Beaunez participated in various interactive sessions, lectures, site visits, workshops, and group projects designed to cultivate leadership, encourage intercultural dialogue, and inspire creative thinking. Expert-led discussions and hands-on activities covered vital topics such as digital transformation, environmental sustainability, quality education, and so on, helping participants explore how digital tools can drive impactful SDG initiatives in their respective countries.

The event underscored Mahidol University's commitment to nurturing future leaders in the ASEAN region, promoting cross-border collaboration, and addressing innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. In addition to building technical skills, the camp encouraged participants to share their unique cultural perspectives, fostering mutual understanding and solidarity across the ASEAN region and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

 

As a result of the camp, participants like Miss Beaunez left with a strengthened commitment to sustainable development and a network of like-minded young leaders equipped to collaborate on future regional initiatives. The camp underscored the role of youth as change-makers and the importance of digital technology in advancing the SDGs throughout ASEAN and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
