Associate Professor Dr. Wimontip Musikaphan, a faculty member of the National Institute for Child and Family Development, Mahidol University was invited by the Graduate School of Human Science, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, to participate as a special speaker at the international conference entitled “The Second Transnational Meeting on Innovation Human Science,” which took place during 9–10 January 2026 in Osaka, Japan.
At the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Wimontip delivered a special lecture on “Beyond the Safety Net,” addressing issues of violence against children in both traditional contexts and the online environment. Particular emphasis was placed on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA), a critical and growing concern not only in Thailand but also across the ASEAN region and in Japan.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Wimontip underscored that violence against children is a “borderless” issue that has severe impacts on children’s lives and development and presents significant challenges in terms of prevention and intervention. These challenges are especially evident in the investigation and prosecution of offenders, which are often hindered by legal constraints, language barriers, time-zone differences, and variations in judicial systems across countries.
This international academic conference represents an important milestone in fostering future academic collaboration between the National Institute for Child and Family Development, Mahidol University, and the Graduate School of Human Science, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, particularly in the areas of joint research, academic exchange, and the development of international collaborative projects.
