International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is observed on October 13 every year to promote a global culture of disaster risk reduction.

The theme of 2022 is “Early Warning.”
The campaign focuses on Target G of the Sendai Framework: “Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.”

• Climate change; natural disasters; man-made conflict; the pandemic itself – these are the current multidimensional threats that we meet.
• The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is using 2022, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, to call for increased investment in extending early warning and early action for all in order to raise awareness of the urgency of achieving Target G and to mobilize action.

How do we reduce risk?

• Be awared and prepared on climate change and disaster.
• Be educated about how to properly prepare for different types of disasters.
• Monitoring the prediction and warning systems, keep yourself updated.

All of these strategies can lessen how disruptive a natural or man-made disaster.
